How to read this map

This is the plan for the new MetaDoc database: one PostgreSQL database, split into twelve areas. Each area (a “schema” in database terms) holds the tables for one part of the product, and each box on the map is one table.

Colour tells you which service writes there. A service may only write inside its own colour; it reads other areas through views that the owner publishes.

The five main tables

Almost everything hangs off five records. They have a filled header on the map, and they are the only tables another area is allowed to point to.

The arrows

An arrow means “this record belongs to that one”: every score points to its scan, every scan points to its patient. Click any table to see just its arrows.

Moving around

Drag empty space to move, scroll to zoom. Fit to screen brings everything back into view.
Overview shows one line per table. Details shows every column and key.
Drag a table, or an area's title bar, to rearrange. Reset layout undoes it.
Press Esc to clear a selection.
